Pumping station upgrades planned in La Cañada Flintridge

August 01, 2013

The Foothill Municipal Water District will embark on a $1.6-million project to replace emergency generators at pumping stations in La Cañada Flintridge and Pasadena later this year, the agency announced Wednesday.

Trenching, concrete and installation work is set to begin in October and may result in intermittent lane closures along Berkshire Avenue in La Cañada Flintridge and Rosemont Avenue in Pasadena. The work is expected to wrap up in March.

The pumping station at 540 Berkshire Ave. pumps imported drinking water into La Cañada and is operational 24 hours a day, according to a statement by the agency. Without emergency backup generators, an extended power outage could leave the city taps high and dry.
