In a year-end tradition, the La Cañada Council PTA and its various school-site PTAs on Monday held their joint installation breakfast, which this year featured a new twist: Several students were invited to present programs that had captured their attention during this past school year.
Called "Spotlight on Students," the program in past years was held separately from the PTA installation and didn't garner much attendance, said Pam Knapp, outgoing president of the Council PTA. The showcase was abandoned for a couple of years due to school testing schedules but resumed this year. It was decided to combine it with the installation so the students would have a good-sized and receptive audience.
"They've done so much for us in the schools," Knapp said of the students and their mentors, "that I think it's really valuable for us to listen to them."
