Two structure fires hit La Cañada Flintridge early Thursday morning, with one being investigated as a possible arson. Neither fire resulted in injury.
At 2:30 a.m., a shed on the 4500 block of La Granada Way, a short distance from Fire Station 19, caught fire. The blaze extended to the garage on the property, causing an estimated $65,000 in damage.
“When Station 19 heard the bell, they could smell the smoke in the station; that's how close it was,” Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Ray Mitchison said. He said it took firefighters exactly one minute to get to the scene. But it took more than two hours to fully extinguish the blaze.
