Crime blotter, June 17: Domestic violence, identify theft

June 11

Identity theft: 1100 block of Flintridge Avenue, 10:01 a.m. A woman was notified via email that her Social Security number had been used to file a tax return and that the person who filed the false return received a tax refund of $1,182.

Vandalism: Oak Grove Drive just north of Foothill Boulevard, 1:15 p.m. Car windshield chipped by thrown rock. A driver reported seeing a boy picking up rocks among 25 to 35 youths waiting at a bus stop on Oak Grove. The driver parked and asked the boy to wait while she called police, but the boy ran off.

Domestic violence: 4600 block of Alcorn Drive, 11:18 p.m. A man was arrested for injuring his daughter and striking his wife on the arm and leg. The man told deputies that he grabbed his daughter because she was being loud when she should have been asleep, and the he did not mean to hurt her. The man’s wife became angry upon seeing bruises on her daughter’s arms and in the ensuing fight, the man punched and kicked her.

June 9

Theft: 4500 Block of Castle Road, 6 a.m. or earlier. A $3,500 road bicycle was stolen from a car port. The bicycle owner was contacted later that day by a bicycle mechanic who said he had seen the bike being sold for $700 on Craigslist.

Theft: 3100 Foothill Blvd., 7:11 p.m. Steel hunting knife and two pocket multi-tools from Orchard Supply Hardware.

June 10

Vandalism: 2900 Community Ave., 10 p.m. or later: Nineteen pieces of stenciled graffiti tagged on the Crescenta Valley High School campus.

June 9

Theft: 2926 Foothill Blvd., 6:30 a.m. A man was seen taking boxes of donated items left outside Goodwill. When confronted by a witness, the man swore, threatened the witness and made a hand gesture mimicking a gun.

June 8

Vandalism: 2700 block of Pinelawn Drive, 5 p.m. or earlier. Two tree branches, approximately 10 inches in diameter, were cut and removed from a backyard tree.
