Theft: 600 block of Durwood Drive, between March 17 and May 28. More than $14,000 in collectible currency and silver cutlery was taken. A resident told deputies the collection was kept in the master bedroom, that the home had not been burglarized, and that he suspected his housekeeper.
Assault: 1900 block of Verdugo Boulevard, 4:45 p.m. A man punched another man in the face at Starbucks. The suspect approached the victim, who was sitting working on a laptop in the coffee shop, and asked him, “Is that your silver Mercedes outside?” After the victim said yes, the suspect punched him in the face and started shaking him violently. An employee said the suspect told him the victim had cut him off on the freeway and then given him the finger. The employee had to restrain the suspect from attacking the victim again, after which the suspect left in his car. The victim suffered a bloody nose and lip, but declined medical attention.
