Taking a great chance on Chance

April 21, 2012

We got our new dog, Chance, from the pound when we lost our other dog to age. We went to the county animal control shelter in Downey. When we got there at 4:30 p.m. they said there was one dog in the back that no one had visited for 12 days.

We went back and found this shaggy dog. His tongue was hanging out, his teeth all gone and his left eye was partially closed. It was 4:45 p.m. now, so we had to decide if we wanted him, because the next day he would have been put down.

We brought him home and he has been a delight. He follows my wife wherever she goes and has a wonderful disposition.

He is called Chance because we gave him his last chance. Dr. Woody Walker, the veterinarian in town, said it looked like Chance had been beaten by a bat or a golf club.

At our Easter party this month about 175 people saw Chance and fell in love with him. We have two big parties every year, at Easter and at Christmas, but this party was special because of Chance.
