Christian Science lecturer Mary Alice Rose will speak twice at First Church of Christ, Scientist in La Cañada Flintridge at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 19, and again on Friday, April 20, also at 8 p.m.
Rose will address the topic, “Are brick-and-mortar churches passé?” during her April 19 appearance, and “Has technology made God and spirituality obsolete?” during her April 20 talk. Both events are free and open to the public. The church is located at 600 Foothill Blvd. Child care will be provided on site for small children.
Church teens collect for the hungry
Youths from La Cañada United Methodist Church, Lutheran Church in the Foothills and other area churches will participate in World Vision's 30-Hour Famine on April 27 and 28. The event is an international movement in which youth fast for 30 hours to raise awareness about hunger and to raise money for children in need.
