Crescenta Valley 3, Pasadena 2: The Bulldogs put up quite a fight, but succumbed in their Pacific League opener on the road Friday, Falcons hurler Elliot Surrey, bound for UC Irvine, struck out 11 and allowed two hits.

"I think you take away a lot of positives," Bulldogs Coach Mike Parisi said. "I thought we played great, I thought we competed. We just came up short.

"If they do that every single time, we'll win a lot of games."

Those two hits were back-to-back doubles in the fourth from Alex Baer and Brandon Carrillo, which scored Andrew Phillips, who walked, and Baer to tie the game at 2.

"We got a few clutch hits to tie it," Parisi said.
