Hahamongna Watershed Park was the site of MACH1's annual Ride-A-Thon on a Sunday in late October. Proceeds from the event, plus generous contributions throughout the year to MACH 1 (Move a Child Higher), provide riders with disabilities with a safe, friendly, fun and effective program.
There were more than 30 riders and support groups participating, including the El Monte Police Dept., Pasadena Police Mounted Unit, various schools, Flintridge Riding Club, MACH 1, Rose Bowl Riders and Tom Sawyer Camp. The riders were offered different trails to follow. The MACH 1 student riders rode a Halloween trail. The youths also played mounted pumpkin hockey.
Patty Sue Jones and Connie Flanders guided the mountain trail and Mallorey Newland from Tom Sawyer Camp guided the arroyo trail. Tom Sawyer Camp provided horses for the MACH 1 volunteers.
