LCHS classrooms hit by burglars

Halloween weekend sees nearly $18,000 in items missing from facilities.

La Cañada High School was struck over the weekend by a facility-wide burglary that hit six different classrooms and left the school missing $17,760 of equipment, according to a report filed at the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.

All of the classrooms that were burglarized were reported locked by their teachers before they left school at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, but no signs of forced entry were found.

At 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, teachers returned to find various items missing. The items reported as stolen include two NEC computer projectors, one Hewlett Packard laptop computer and carrying case, 13 Mac laptop computers and $60 in cash for a class field trip.

“I don’t want to comment on anything until the investigation is conducted,” said Mike Leininger, assistant superintendent of Facilities & Operations for La Cañada Unified School District.
