Lanterman House museum was seeking state funding to restore a four-wall mural in the breakfast room of the former Lanterman family residence. The artwork was painted by an unknown muralist in about 1915. The estimated cost to restore it was $35,000.

A two-level Hillard Avenue treehouse used by teens as a hang-out for five years was declared a safety hazard by the Montrose Sheriff’s Station. Its builder, John Ivers Jr., then 19, objected to the order for its removal, saying it wasn’t hurting anyone. The structure was located 50 feet in the air, in a pine tree on county easement land.
