1900 block of Foothill Boulevard: A catalytic converter valued at $1,318 was stolen from a 2004 Toyota Tacoma sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on July 19 as the truck was parked on the south side of Foothill Boulevard. The victim learned of the theft after taking the truck to a repair shop due to its suddenly louder exhaust system. There have been several thefts of catalytic converters in the area this year, nearly all of them from Toyotas.

1300 block of Foothill Boulevard: A catalytic converter valued at $900 was stolen from a 2002 Toyota Sequoia between 8 a.m. and noon on July 26 as the vehicle was parked in a lot. The victim said it was the second time a catalytic converter has been stolen from the same vehicle.

5800 block of Angeles Crest Highway: More than 100 pounds of copper was stolen from a recycling bin at Southern California Edison’s Gould Station sometime after close of business on Friday, July 15, and Monday, July 18. A chain-link fence was found cut open. The scrap copper was valued at $1,000 and damage to the fence at $300.

4800 block of Oak Grove Avenue: Giovanni Salazar, 30, of Los Angeles, was arrested just after 2 a.m. on July 22 on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. JPL security guards reported that Salazar appeared drunk when pulling up to their guard shack. He was not using his car’s headlights and its front passenger-side tire was missing, leaving only the wheel rim. Salazar said he was heading to Maryland and had been driving on his wheel rim for months.

500 block of Foothill Boulevard: The manager of Ralphs Fresh Fare reported that two men entered the grocery store at just after 5 p.m. on July 16, filled a cart with 504 cans of Red Bull and walked out of the store without paying for them. The loss was valued at approximately $1,200. Two previous incidents of Red Bull theft have been reported this summer by area grocery stores.
