A $25,000 fire at Palm Crest Elementary School was believed to be related to a burglary that occurred the same evening as the fire. After the fire, a plumber doing work for the school district found a duffel bag on the campus containing items that had been taken from Room 821: a fire extinguisher, jars of glitter, a bag of frozen peas (still cold), medical supplies and a computer speaker.

“Big River,” a musical based on Mark Twain’s “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” was the 1991 production of the Foothill Youth Summer Theatre, featuring a cast of 54 area teens and younger children.
Thirty Years Ago
A community swimming program underway at the La Cañada High School pool was made possible by the Youth House, Crescenta-Cañada YMCA, LCF Chamber of Commerce and the La Cañada Unified School District. Lessons were available in swimming, diving and water ballet. Community swim times were available on weekends and there was no charge for admission.
