Ten Years Ago
A Honda Civic crashed through a guardrail on the connector between the 210 and 2 freeways, fell an estimated 50 feet and landed on a road below. The car’s 19-year-old driver was released from the hospital within 24 hours, but his passenger, also 19, sustained serious neck injuries. A witness estimated the Honda’s speed at 120 miles per hour just prior to the accident.

Two men, one armed with a pistol, awoke two sleeping La Cañadans in their upper Hillard Avenue home at about 2:40 a.m. one July morning and robbed them of jewelry and a video cassette player before escaping with the loot.

The Leisure Club of La Cañada Flintridge in the summer of 1981 began its third year with nearly 300 members, all ages 50 and up. Donald Hill was seated as president for the 1981-82 club year.
