The La Cañada Elementary District School Board in Feb. 1961, looking ahead to its conversion to a unified school district that July, authorized a permit application to use a two-acre school site in the Chilao area of the Angeles National Forest. The plan was to establish both a school and a teacher’s residence for $75,000.

Sixty Years Ago

Land Builders Inc. announced plans to construct 47 homes in the Crown Avenue area after purchasing the land from Matt Flynn. The modern stucco houses would be built on three new streets to be known as Westlope Lane, Mero Lane and Merita Place.
