School board president fined by FPPC
Susan Boyd, president of the La Cañada Unified School District Governing Board, is being fined $200 by the California Fair Political Practices Commission for a campaign-reporting violation that took place during the 2009 school-board election.
The decision to fine Boyd, handed down by the FPPC Jan. 28, states Boyd “failed to timely file a second pre-election campaign statement for the reporting period of Sept. 20, 2009, through Oct. 17, 2009,” as a candidate for re-election to the school board.
Boyd did not return phone calls seeking comment.
Schools task force to hold town-hall meeting
The recently formed La Cañada Unified School District’s Task Force is holding a town-hall meeting from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at La Cañada High School.
The meeting will explain why the district is currently facing a financial crisis, outline cuts that have already been made, lay out a solution to the crisis and detail what can be achieved in success and lost in failure. A panel will be on hand to answer questions from the community. Questions can be sent in advance by e-mailing them to email@example.com.
Foundation unveils new website
The La Cañada Flintridge Educational Foundation this month launched its newly updated website, www.lcfef.org.
Foundation Director Craig Mazin, working with non-profit Web developer Kevin Halfhill, has completely overhauled the design, site map and functionality for easier reading and navigation.
The centerpiece of the site is the new online donation system that keeps donors within the site, collects data to make future donations easier, allows donors to submit one-time or multipart donations and automatically generates detailed receipts via e-mail once the donation is complete. The new home page offers business sponsors a section in which their logos can be showcased.
