Panhellenic scholarship luncheon is March 12

The annual scholarship luncheon of Glendale Area Alumnae Panhellenic will be held at 11 a.m. on March 12 at The La Cañada Thursday Club, 4440 Woodleigh Lane, La Cañada Flintridge.

Each year, National Panhellenic Conference-affiliated collegians and alumnae donate more than $5 million to charitable causes, provide $2.8 million in scholarships to women, and volunteer 500,000 hours in their communities.

The Glendale Area Alumnae Panhellenic was established in 1948 and its charter continues to be to provide college financial assistance women from Burbank, Glendale, La Cañada, La Crescenta and Montrose.

2010 high school recipients included Katherine Chapman, recipient of the Mary Ellen Gilstrap Memorial Scholarship, Amanda Borland and Kristen Hernandez, all of La Canada Flintridge; Alexandra Heyes and Angelina Nilssen of Glendale; Anasheh Sookezian and Yasmeen Cesare of La Crescenta; Anush Shaginian of Burbank; and Nicole Pascua of Tujunga. College sorority member recipients included Elizabeth Sanfilippo and Caroline Chapman of La Cañada Flintridge.

The luncheon is open to the public. Reservations are required, and the price per person is $55. The reservation deadline is March 1. The guest speaker is Sarita Gomez.
