The Santa clock is ticking — only nine more days and he will be making his famous rounds around the globe. What an exciting time of the year it is as we imagine the jolly man in his red suit flying over snow-covered rooftops in his present-filled sleigh drawn by reindeer. I have such happy Christmas memories of years gone by. I hope you do too.

At least the Midwest and parts of the East Coast will be celebrating a white Christmas. They experienced quite a storm last weekend. And to think that we have been basking in bright sunshine and record-high temps in the 80s. I'm glad I got my holiday decorations done when the weather was cooler, otherwise I would not have been so inspired.

Having no trouble getting into a holiday mood were the many Starduster Dance Club members who recently gathered at a popular Pasadena private club for a festive black-tie dinner dance.

Starduster presidents Gigi and Jim Schlueter chose the theme of the dance, "The Christmas Ball." It was a wonderfully festive evening. As guests walked into the club's foyer they encountered Santa's sleigh, which was overflowing with gaily-wrapped presents. A crackling fire in the fireplace set the ambience for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.

Beautifully decorated Christmas trees were placed in several rooms and were admired by all the guests. The facility's graceful staircase was made even more attractive with festive garlands, twinkle lights and large red bows. Holiday garlands also enhanced the fireplace mantel.

When guests entered the dining room, they were greeted with a winter wonderland of more Christmas trees and dining tables centered with seasonal greenery and glowing candles.

Jim Phillips and Peggy Touchstone were the dance chairs. Working with them to make this such a festive evening were Polly and Brent Allen, Fran and Terry Buchanan, Easy and Ed Delaney, Katie and Fred Elsea, Heather and Carl Emge and Virginia and Michael Karsch.

The band Breakaway provided the tunes for dancing. Among those showing off their dancing skills were Peg and Bill Barber, Carol and Pete Cortez, Liz and Bob Craven, Francie and Jerry Crichton, Orchid Donnelly and George Stevenson, Corky and Eddy Field, Sue and Barry Franzen, Judy and Kent Frewing, Vera and Garth Gragg, Kitty and John Gurash, Mary and Mark Herring, Pat and Dennis Hetherington, Penny and John Lusche, Edie Askew and Jim Mramor, Margaret and Bob McMurray, Ginger and Ed O'Hara and Lillian and Roy Olofson.

More guests enjoying the holiday party were Marilyn and Willis Petchow, Cathy and Pete Palermo, Margie and Tony Riewe, Sharon and Joseph Roth, Margaret and John Schock, Judy and Bob Snyder, Shirley Sterns and David Prenatt, Cory and Chris Stevens, and Elaine Alexander and Paul Westmoreland.
