Don't miss the upcoming Kitchen and Home Tour slated for Sunday, Oct. 3, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The front doors of four beautiful homes, including one in our city, will be open and welcoming guests on this self-guided tour that is a fund-raiser for the Pasadena Chapter of American Society of Interior Designers.
Eileen Atwood, chairman of the event, says, "The homes on this tour are excellent examples of the magic that can occur when a designer and client work together as a team." Designer Carol Cobabe is co-chair of the home tour.
Interior designer Firoozeh Khorrami has created a warm and inviting ambience in a traditional Colonial-style La Cañada Flintridge home on Oakwood Avenue that will be open for view on this tour. The other three homes, by designers Rozalynn Woods, Susan Sawasy and Leona Valone, are located in Pasadena, San Marino and South Pasadena.
Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 on the day of the tour. Tickets are available in LCF at Pzazz Hair Salon, 840 Foothill Blvd. For additional tour information, call (800) 237-2634. Saturday, Oct. 2, is the last day you can purchase tickets at Pzazz here in town. Tickets will include a map and the address of each home.
Movie and television celebs were in the house at the Mark Taper Forum's sold-out opening of Tennessee Williams' autobiographical memory play, "The Glass Menagerie," which runs through Oct. 17.
The cast, Judith Ivey as the matriarch Amanda Wingfield, Patch Darragh as her son Tom, Keira Keeley as her fragile, crippled daughter Laura and Ben McKenzie as the "Gentleman Caller" is brilliantly directed by Gordon Edelstein.
The pitch perfect ensemble blows the cobwebs away from this 1944 play this is a reflection of Williams own life struggles and how he was bound to his real life family.
This Taper production gives a breath of fresh air to this classic play of a shattered family and it is often punctuated with bright shafts of humor that add a sense of hope to the gray landscape of the drab realities of the Wingfield family's existence.
If you want to add a Tennessee Williams play to your repertoire of theatre outings, this Taper production with its outstanding cast is a memorable choice.
