Area 1: 2400 block of Cross Street: Deputies responded to a burglary call on Sept. 9 at 1:50 a.m. A witness reported that he heard his neighbor's dog barked loudly, and looked into the neighbor's yard where he saw a white male standing at the back door. The suspect hesitated, and then entered the residence. Deputies searched the property but did not find the suspect. Nothing was stolen.
2900 block of Community Avenue: Messages were spray-painted on the walkways and walls throughout Crescenta Valley High School overnight Sept. 9-10, including "Verdugo," "VH" and "VHHS." A school official said that there was a football game between Verdugo Hills High School and Crescenta Valley High School, and that he believed the culprits might have been Verdugo Hills High School students playing a prank.
Ramsdell and Encinal avenues: A Glendale teenager was arrested for burglary on Sept. 10 at 8:15 p.m. after being detained by his intended victim. Two men were playing basketball when they observed the suspect on the perimeter of the court. The teen dropped his T-shirt on the ground near the victim's gym bag and stooped to pick it up, stealing a set of car keys from the bag in the process. The victim then noticed that his car's lights flashed on. He walked toward his vehicle and saw the suspect in the front seat rustling through his possessions. The victim confronted the suspect, who tried to flee. But the victim and his companion jumped on him and detained him until deputies arrived.
