Performance to spotlight Gulf crisis

Students in the advanced placement environmental science classes at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy are hosting a musical event in Memorial Park from 4 to 7 p.m. on June 3 to bring awareness of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico to the young people in La Cañada Flintridge.

Nickelodeon star Ashley Argota from True Jackson VP will be a featured performer, while co-stars from her show and those from The Troop and Victorious will sign autographs. Two local bands, The Silence and the FSHA Band, will also perform.

Information about the oil spill and how it affects the ecosystem will be presented at different booths by FSHA's environmental students as part of a service project.

"We also hope to raise money through a raffle of an iPod Nano, a Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award mini bike, tickets to the Long Beach Aquarium and other items which will be put toward the cleanup of the Gulf," said FSHA junior Charlotte Hook.
