Harris elected to credit union association board

Local businessman and resident Rich Harris has been elected to the Board of Directors of the National Assn. of Federal Credit Unions.

Harris was elected as the Region V representative for the Western United States. He will begin his three-year term on the 11-member board in July, following the close of their annual business meeting in Chicago.

Harris is a longtime resident of La Cañada Flintridge and has been the president/chief executive of the locally headquartered Caltech Employees Federal Credit Union since 1986. He received his bachelor of science degree in business finance from Cal State Los Angeles, and has completed executive leadership and development education at Stanford University, Graduate School of Business, and at the Harvard School of Business.

He has served on the Board of Directors of the Verdugo Hills Hospital Foundation since 1998 and on the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Support Group since 1992. He was honored as the recipient of the 2006 La Cañadan of the Year award sponsored by the La Cañada Kiwanis Club. Having attended La Cañada public schools from K-12, he and his wife Debbie have also raised all three of their children in the local school district.

Crawford, Longo join VHH board

Verdugo Hills Hospital last week announced the appointment of Jeff Crawford to the VHH Foundation Board for a three-year term, and Sam C. Longo, Jr. to the board for a two-year term.

A resident of La Cañada with his wife Orsi and sons Christopher and Jack, Crawford is actively involved in the community. “I decided to join the VHHF board because I was asked and have always enjoyed having the hospital and medical offices so close to my home, and both of my children were born at the hospital,” Crawford said. “I hope to help the hospital meet its future goals in fundraising.”

Crawford is senior vice president of nontheatrical sales at Warner Bros. Pictures; he has held this position for the past 10 years. Previously, he has had stints with Warner Bros. Theatrical, New Line Cinema and Turner Cable Network Sales.

He has served as a Flintridge Preparatory School Board member for the last five years. Also, Crawford and his wife have chaired the annual campaign in 2008-09 and 2009-10 for Learning Castle/La Cañada Prep.

Crawford grew up in La Cañada, attending Paradise Canyon and later Flintridge Preparatory School. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder.
