Artists in the Garden — May 4 to May 25, 4 to 5 p.m. Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada. Youngsters in grades three through five will explore the basic principles of art in a natural garden setting, using a variety of media. $50, $40 Descanso members. Taste of Montrose — May 2, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Crescenta Valley High School Prom Plus presents “Taste of Montrose,” allowing participants to taste offerings in booths and restaurants along Honolulu Avenue. Several area restaurants are providing the food, including Frank’s Famous, 3 Drunken Goats, Cucina Rustica, Pepe’s, Star Cafe, Leo’s All-Star, Quiznos, Dream Dinners, Oven Fresh Bakery, Rocky Cola, Damon’s Taco Deli, Oceanview Bistro, Gourmet A Go Go Catering, New Moon, Montrose Candy, Paradis, Zeke’s, Bashan, Edible Arrangements, Fratelli’s, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Jane’s Cakes & Chocolate Supply, Slender Sweet Shoppe and more. The event raises funds for Prom Plus, the safe post-prom event held at the Crescenta-Cañada YMCA for Crescenta Valley High School seniors and their guests. Learn about drought-resistant landscapes — May 15, 2 to 4 p.m. La Cañada Valley Beautiful is hosting a dedication of the La Cañada Public Library Demonstration Gardens, 4545 Oakwood Ave., La Cañada Flintridge. The public is invited to tour the gardens and hear about sustainable landscape. California-friendly plants are labeled.
