Scholarships offered La Cañada residents
The Cañada Auxiliary of Professionals of Assistance League of Flintridge (CAP), is offering three $1,000 scholarships to students who reside in La Cañada Flintridge.
The scholarships will be granted to students who will be attending a two-year college or occupational program in the fall. To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must graduate from high school by June, and must have maintained a grade point average of 2.5 or better. Consideration will be given to career goals, achievements, community service and/or school involvement, and character.
Applications can be downloaded or a sample is available from counselors and/or scholarship staff at La Cañada High School, Crescenta Valley High School, St. Francis High School, Hillside Learning Center, Glendale Community College and Pasadena City College, or from Assistance League of Flintridge, 4607 Oakwood Ave., La Cañada, after April 2. Applications must be returned to Assistance League of Flintridge by no later than May 7, along with a one-page personal essay, verification of grades, resume, and two sealed letters of recommendation.
Applications will be reviewed in May and awards will be presented at school awards ceremonies in June.

LCHS Serve-A-Thon scheduled for Saturday
The La Cañada High School Serve-a-thon will take place this Saturday starting at 8 a.m.
Students and parents, even community members, are being asked to volunteer their time to clean up the high school campus in preparation for Open House.
Activities will include basic house keeping, such as picking up and clearing away trash, and other tasks.
