Troop participates in feed your neighbor day

On the afternoon of Saturday, Dec. 5, members of La Cañada Cadette Girl Scout Troop No. 7721 joined with Girl Scouts throughout the Los Angeles County to collect donated food for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

The Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles hosts a Day of Service each December. The 2009 event, Feed Your Neighbor Day, was an effort to address the problem of more than one million people in Los Angeles County who are at risk of going hungry.

The girls of Troop 7721 staffed a booth in front of Vons Market in La Crescenta. In less than two hours, they collected over 275 pounds of food.

It was a new challenge for the girls to speak up and ask the shoppers entering the market to consider buying food to donate. There were many generous shoppers.

Troop No. 7721 is co-led by Sharon Perlstein and Tess Elconin.
