Four LCF homes targeted by burglars

October 09, 2009|By Seth Amitin

Law enforcement officials are on the lookout for two suspects driving a gray Dodge minivan who are suspected of burglarizing three homes--and attempting to burglarize a fourth--this week in La Cañada Flintridge.

The suspects, who are described as black males, ages 18-30 and between 5’7” and 5’10” and 190-200 lbs., allegedly broke into the homes through rear entrances by force and grabbed many small high-value items, including jewelry.

“We’ve put out extra patrols,” said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Dept. Sgt. Ray Harley. “We hope this will help deter the crimes. The investigation is currently pending.”

The burglaries occurred between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. The suspects may have staked out the houses and waited for the residents to leave before breaking in, Harley said.

The burglarized homes are all within two square miles of Valley Crest Street, off Angeles Crest Highway, Harley said.

During the attempted burglary on Tuesday, the victim was home and surprised the suspects. He was able provide deputies with a description of both men and their car with a partial license plate: 6JEP.

“This homeowner did a great job of getting information on the suspects without getting involved,” Harley said.

“It’s possible they moved to a different area or changed vehicles,” he continued. “Those are the types of things burglars do.”

Citizens who may have seen the minivan or suspicious activity are asked to call Det. Frank Diana of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station at (818) 248-3464.
