VHH to host third Emergency Expo

The La Cañada Chamber of Commeric in association with Verdugo Hills Hospital will host the third annual Play it Safe Emergency Expo this Saturday at 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at VHH.

Demonstrations will be offered in safety prevention from Fire and Sheriff’s Departments of the area.

“The [Station] fire is still on everyone’s mind,” said President and CEO of the La Cañada Chamber of Commerce Pat Anderson. “We’ll have firefighters from Batallion 3 doing demonstrations with the jaws of life and Hazmat, telling people what to do in case of a chemical spill.”

“It’s going to have a wide range of information on how to handle emergencies,” said Vice President of Community Relations with VHH Margaret Kean.


“It’s good information for both home and business safety and it’s free for the public,” Kean said.

Anderson noted that vendors will be on hand to sell and inform the public of emergency supplies.

Other listed activities including a talk with paramedics, a search and rescue demonstration with search and rescue dogs, a question and answer session with doctors of the emergency room at VHH, a demonstration on the jaws of life and more.

The Chamber of Commerc expects Smokey Bear and Sparky the firefighting dog to both be on hand.

There will also be a moonbounce for children.

The expo will be at 1812 Verdugo Boulevard, the east parking lot of VHH,10 a.m.-3 p.m., on Saturday.
