Missouri (50-10) picked up a lopsided 9-1 win in the deciding game of the best-of-three series against UCLA, the No. 2 seed. Poet, a left fielder, finished with three singles in three at-bats and scored three runs to pace the Tigers. It marked the first time in her collegiate career that she had three hits in a game.
In the second of the three games, Poet went hitless in four plate appearances in a 5-2 loss to the Bruins. Poet and Missouri opened the regional Saturday with a 2-1 win. She didn’t record a hit in two trips to the plate.
Poet has recorded four multiple-hit games this season.
Through Sunday, Poet is batting .246 (20 for 81) with one home run and 12 runs batted in. She’s registered three doubles, scored 21 runs and made 21 putouts.

Christian Bergman (St. Francis High, 2006) UC Irvine baseball starting pitcher: The right-hander, who was selected as the All-Area Player of the Year in 2006, and the sixth-seeded Anteaters (43-13, 22-2 in the Big West Conference) will host a regional for the first time after winning the conference championship.
Irvine entered last week as the top team in the nation before falling to the UC Santa Barbara, 8-2, on Saturday. Bergman surrendered three solo home runs in the third inning. He gave up six runs and seven hits in five innings.
Through Sunday, Bergman is 9-2 with a 3.33 earned-run average. He’s pitched 92 innings, allowing 103 hits and 41 runs (34 earned). He’s struck out 59 in 14 appearances.
The Irvine Regional, a double-elimination event, will be held Friday through Monday and will also feature Virginia, San Diego State and Fresno State, which won the championship last season. Irvine will meet Fresno State (32-28) at 8 p.m. Friday on ESPN.

Ramiro Carreon (St. Francis High, 2008) freshman pitcher, Loyola Marymount University baseball: Carreon came on in relief during Loyola Marymount’s 14-3 loss to Gonzaga on Saturday in the West Coast Conference Championship Series in Spokane, Wash.
Carreon, who helped St. Francis advance to the CIF Southern Section Division II championship contest in 2006, went 4 1/3 innings. He allowed four runs, five hits and one walk.
Carreon finished the season 3-1 with a 5.05 earned-run average covering 17 appearances. In 76 2/3 innings, Carreon has allowed 87 hits and 47 runs and struck out 48.
The Lions finished their season at 30-29 and 13-8 in conference.
