Springamajig is May 2

April 23, 2009

Springamajig is Palm Crest Elementary School’s biggest annual fundraiser. The money it raises each year helps provide, among other things, art, music and science docents, multi-cultural days, reading intervention, technology instruction and equipment, playground improvements and much-needed supplies for the school office and classrooms.

Springamajig 2009 will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 2.

A bounty of activities for all ages will be found on the Palm Crest Elementary School playground — rides, games, refreshments, silent auction and a crowd-pleasing kids’ talent show.

Kids can test their sea legs on the Kraken giant inflatable slide, catch a wave on the Robosurf simulator, or strike a crazy pose on the velcro wall. For those less adventurous, there will be plenty of carnival games to play for great prizes and scrumptious baked goods to win at the cake walk. The refreshment booths will offer hungry sailors their choice of hamburgers, hot dogs or Korean babercue for lunch, sno-cones, baked goods and Coldstone Creamery ice cream for dessert.

For the convenience of parents who don’t want to have to keep digging out their wallets, wristbands are available that allow children to play an unlimited number of games, go on an unlimited number of rides, eat a meal and take a turn at the cake walk. Cost is $55 each.

Adults who need to take a break from the fun can also browse the treasures in the silent auction tent. As a special one-time offering this year, past and present PCR students, parents and staff can be a part of Palm Crest history by purchasing and painting a tile for Palm Crest’s dedication wall, to be installed across from the all-new multi-purpose building later this year. Tiles are $40 each. Tiles and paint are generously donated by Mission Tile West.
