The city of La Cañada Flintridge and the LCF Chamber of Commerce unveiled their joint website. The City Council approved $10,000 for the project, with the agreement that the Chamber would be responsible for site maintenance.

Twenty Years Ago

Longtime area pediatrician William Schafer, who first established an office in Montrose in 1950, then shortly thereafter moved the practice to La Cañada, retired to pursue a master’s degree in fine arts.

Thirty Years Ago

Local anti-school busing forces scored a double success by first getting the La Cañada school board to oppose mandatory busing across district lines and then by having the City Council take a similar stance, as it endorsed the position of the school board.

Forty Years Ago

A real estate advertisement showed a four-bedroom, three-bath home in the Country Club Estates section of town was on the market for $69,500.

Fifty Years Ago

The La Cañada school board granted permission to St. Francis High to use about two acres of district-owned property west of Oak Grove Elementary School for parking for football games.

St. Francis officials also indicated an interest in purchasing the property to expand their athletic facilities.
