Decathlon team in area scrimmage

On Nov. 17, the La Cañada High School Academic Decathlon team participated in a practice scrimmage at Hawthorne High School, competing with teams from around the local area in a six-hour multiple choice exam.

Participants included Marta Belcher, Anand Kesavaraju, Dan Killam, Jenny Love, Sharon Song, Kris Swick and Deanna Tran.

La Cañada Kiwanis honors Terrific Kids

On Nov. 14, the La Cañada Kiwanis Club honored six outstanding Palm Crest Elementary School students at their weekly luncheon meeting.

The Kiwanis Terrific Kids program recognizes outstanding students who are academically outstanding and are active in extracurricular activities.

Future leaders at this meeting were Catlin Consolo, Alex Aleguin, Noah Kim, Taylor Winter, Alissa Winter and Danny Lim.

Catlin Consolo enjoys school and working with her classmates and her teachers. She likes to cook, especially Italian meals.

Alex Aleguin’s favorite subject is social studies.

He was a member of the Student Council last year.

Noah Kim enjoys sports. He swims with the Rose Bowl swimming team and is a Kendo student.

Taylor Winter enjoys the arts and is very creative.

She enjoys drawing, painting and designing outfits.

Alissa Winter enjoys reading and has a talent for writing poetry.

Last year she received first place in the PTA District for her entry in the Reflections Contest.

Danny Lim enjoys sports and is on the YMCA Swimming Team.

He likes helping his classmates and was a member of the Student Council last year.

Garden products sale is a success

The Scouts and Leaders of St. Bede’s Boy Scout Troop 507 thanks the residents of La Cañada and residents of the surrounding communities for supporting Troop 507’s recent 28th annual Garden Products Sale. The Troop sold and delivered over 5,800 bags of garden products — totaling over 200 tons — to more than 450 customers.

LCE Book Fair to feature many titles

La Cañada Elementary School is preparing to once again welcome Mrs. Nelson’s Book Fair to the school from Dec. 4 to 7. Families will have the unique opportunity to do some early holiday shopping, while supporting the elementary school.
