Glendale Community Theatre Monday and Tuesday from 7 to 10 p.m. The auditions for the production of “Tartuffe: Born Again,” translated and adapted from Moliere’s original by Freyda Thomas, will be held in the auditorium from 7 to 10 p.m. Sign-up is in the auditorium Lobby. Auditions will be by cold readings from the script with call backs on Sept. 12. “Tartuffe: Born Again” will open Nov. 8 and run for two weekends with guest director Laurie Woolery of the Cornerstone Theatre Co. The Lanterman Picnic Sept. 16, 4 p.m. A 90-year tradition started by the Lanterman family. Held at the Lanterman House gardens, there will be tri-tip, chicken and all the fixings, cool drinks and live music. Reservations are $30 for adults and $20 for children under 12. David Shannon Book Reading Sept., 16, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Once Upon A Time bookstore will host Burbank author/illustrator David Shannon as he reads from his latest children’s picture book “Pirates Don’t Change Diapers.” Shannon’s numerous works have been national bestsellers, a New York Times Book Review Best Illustrated Book of the Year, a Southern California Booksellers Best Children’s Book of the Year, a selection of the Junior Library Guild and an American Bookseller Pick of the List. Reel talk with Stephen Farber Sept. 17 to Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. Stephen Farber, one of the country’s leading film critics and historians, will continue his film series Reel Talk with Stephen Farber at the Wadsworth Theatre for 12 Monday nights beginning Sept. 17.
