Looking For "Oliver"

Glendale's celebrated community theatre company holds auditions for its eighth annual main stage production.

May 17, 2007

The Stepping Stone Players, Glendale's "Community Theatre At Its Best," is pleased to announce the selection of three-time Tony© award-winner "Oliver" as their eighth annual production for 2007. Based on the famous novel, Oliver Twist, by Charles Dickens, Oliver first opened in London and went on to Broadway where it was revived several times due to popular demand.

Oliver tells the tale of a poor orphan boy, who, surrounded by a fascinating cast of characters, goes from rags to riches and back again. The play features some of the most famous and endearing songs in musical theatre history: "Food, Glorious Food," "Where Is Love?," "Consider Yourself (part of the family)", "Oom-Pah-Pah," "Who Will Buy?," and "As Long As He Needs Me."

The Stepping Stone Players is a non-profit, Glendale-based community theatre company that encourages the participation of professionals, amateurs, and everyone in-between in the production of quality, live musical theatre. They are particularly proud of the mentoring program, in which professionals work with students in all aspects of theatrical production and performance. Many actors and staff join them year after year to make the magic of live theatre happen again on the Hoover High School stage, which is generously made available through the partnership with Hoover High School. This year they are offering a large number of children's roles to both boys and girls.
