Routine Traffic Stops Finds Guns, Ammo

Crescenta Valley Sheriff's deputies made a routine traffic stop Monday that netted two suspects, five guns and several rounds of ammunition.

At the intersection of Angeles Crest Highway and Angeles Forest Highway deputies pulled over a 1992 Chevy Blazer that did not have a front license plate. They found the driver, David Aaron Jund, 47, of Little Rock, Calif. was driving on a suspended license and on parole for a weapons' violation. After a search of the vehicle, deputies found a backpack with ammunition magazines, two loaded guns, a pair of black leather gloves and a pair of latex gloves. Deputies then discovered that Jund was wearing body armor under his T-shirt. On further search, a clear plastic bag with three more loaded guns, a black holster, more ammunition including hollow point rounds, a pair of binoculars, a police radio frequency locator, a large police-style knife, a camouflage field jacket and camouflage hat were turned up.

Several of the guns had been reported stolen.

Jund's passenger was Guillermo Carmona, 59, of Pearblossom. Although the suspects have not stated yet why they had all the guns and items with them, it appeared they were on their way to rob something, said Sgt. Ray Harley. They were heading toward La Cañada however there is no indication they were heading to any specific business in La Cañada.

Jund is being held on $100,000 bail. Carmona is held on $115,315 bail. Court dates for both mens are pending.
