The Junior League of Pasadena was the recipient of the Outstanding Volunteer Organization Award presented for National Philanthropy Day by The Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Los Angeles Chapter. The awards luncheon was held on Wednesday, Nov.15 at the Beverly Hilton. Chris Schauble, of the NBC4 morning news show "Today in LA," was the Master of Ceremonies for the event.
"The Junior League of Pasadena is honored to receive this award, as it validates the incredible accomplishments of women devoted to making their community a better place through service and leadership," said Mara Lague, Junior League of Pasadena president. "We are proud to continue the tradition of 80 years of community work in the San Gabriel Valley." Fifteen present and past JLP board members attended the lunch, including several past presidents: Jennifer Cargill of Altadena, Sarah Horner of La Crescenta, Mary Snider and Phyllis Wilburn, both of Arcadia.
Kevin Delaney, chair of the National Philanthropy Day in Los Angeles, remarked, "For more than twenty years, the Association of Fundraising Professionals has recognized the enormous contributions of philanthropy to our world and to Southern California. The work of this year's nominees and Outstanding Award winners motivates us all."
