The game started with the stifling defense coached by Larry Burcher and Jason Sharman, which allowed no scores during this fierce competition. Max Burcher and Mason Gilmour both tipped passes at the line of scrimmage and Burcher registered a sack to kill a Panthers' drive.
One of the highlights was the flag pull by a stealthy Brandon Lang working the running back toward the far sideline. Bobby Gazmarian, Ian Goodstein, Max Moreno and Andrew Kennelly thrived in the linebacker positions while Brandon Sharman and Jake George continued to shut down the corners.
Sharman intercepted a pass early in the game and returned the ball across the field to the 10-yard line to set up another Gladiators' score.
The offensive line blocked the Panthers' attack brilliantly behind John Monroe, Max Burcher, Nicholas Hernandez, Miles Haxton and Patrick Panoosi allowed Mason Gilmour to complete passes to many receivers including hitch passes to Tyler Jacinto and Will McConnell, both of which resulted in touchdowns for the Gladiators.
The offense wasn't finished as Monroe caught two passes in a row to set up a running score by Jacinto. Jacinto then ran for one more touchdown to put the game out of reach.
"I have seen some teams take the lead early only to see it dwindle away in the second half. It's fantastic to see our guys play a complete game from beginning to end without letting up," said Coach Scott Monroe.
