Camp Fox Forum Scheduled for Oct. 3

September 28, 2006

The future of Camp Fox on Catalina Island will be the topic of a public forum to be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, at the Crescenta-Cañada YMCA, 1930 Foothill Blvd.

Thousands of local youngsters have attended Camp Fox over the past years. Now the YMCA will discuss the future of the camp as well as plans for other camping programs they are currently looking at, new camps they plan to introduce during 2007 and new camp structures. There will be time for the public to ask questions during the forum.

"This is an open forum for community members to hear about camp programs and learn about new plans. During the past summer months, the Crescenta-Cañada YMCA has been looking at options for camps and the possibility of expanding our resident or sleep-away camps," said Chris Waldheim, YMCA board member and member of the Camp Task Force.

Over the past 50+ years the Camp Fox has been a place for young campers to explore learn and create memories. Campers have attended the camp which, until recently, was leased by the Glendale YMCA. The camp recently reverted back to the Catalina Island Conservancy.
