Since May 2005, the Crescenta-Cañada YMCA has offered Live Scan service. It is a quick and convenient way for individuals and organizations to perform fingerprint background checks. "I believe that this project has been a true coming together of community resources and community needs," Chief Executive Officer Larry Hall said. "We are pleased to have partnered with the Glendale Community Foundation and the Paul A. Hughes Family Foundation in this endeavor."
Until the purchase of the Live Scan machine, the Crescenta-Cañada YMCA relied on manual fingerprinting for its employees and volunteer staff. Where live scanning was required, applicants were forced to go to Pasadena City College or the city of Glendale as the closest Live Scan facilities. "We are very happy to be able to offer this service to the organizations in our community that need to run background checks," added Hall. "Previously, people had to venture outside our community for these services, and now they are available right next door at the local Y."
