Rain Checks Torres Golf Tourney Until July

The Andrew Torres Memorial Golf Tournament and dinner that was scheduled for Monday was canceled due to inclement weather.

The tournament, which would have been held at the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club, has been rescheduled for Monday, July 31.

In an e-mail last Sunday morning, Anita Brenner Torres, mother of the Flintridge Prep and U.S. Naval Academy graduate who died of cancer on April 3, 2004, said members of the tournament committee notified the 240 people who were planning to attend the event that day of the cancellation.

"If you have paid to play or for the dinner, we would be happy to refund your payment," said Brenner in her e-mail.

"On the other hand, we hope you will join us on July 31, 2006 for what will be an exciting event with two hole-in-one automobiles, over 100 beautiful auction items, dinner favors, stupendous tee prizes for the golfers, shirts, Bulldog USMC after-shave, sports memorabilia, jewelry, art work and fun entertainment," she said.
