2nd Lt. Andrew Torres, USMC passed away from cancer in April of 2004. His friends, family and members of the La Cañada and Pasadena communities are now working together on the Second Annual Andrew J. Torres Golf Classic to be held Monday, April 3.
The Torres Golf Committee recently received donations of two footballs, each signed by a Washington Redskins football player. One football bears the signature of quarterback Mark Brunell, a three-time Pro Bowl selection ('96, '97, '99) who played at the University of Washington('93); the second football was signed by wide receiver Santana Moss, who was selected for the 2005 Pro Bowl. Moss had 1483 receiving yards in 2005 and was the second best receiver in the NFL. He played football at the University of Miami ('00).
The proceeds from the golf classic will go to an ongoing cancer research project at Huntington Medical Research Institutes in Pasadena.
