Paul Holman Elected President of 2007 TOR

January 26, 2006

Paul L. Holman was named president of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses 2006-07 by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association's board of directors.

Holman, a Pasadena resident, will provide leadership for the 118th Rose Parade and the 93rd Rose Bowl Game.

He announced that the theme for the parade will be "Our Good Nature."

"I felt the theme should incorporate the elements that make our parade and our organization so extraordinary," Holman said. "By far the most distinctive feature of the Rose Parade is its spectacular floral floats and the requirement that our floats be entirely covered with natural materials.

"The most unique aspect of our organization is the incredible commitment and dedication of our 935 members. The tireless, good-natured enthusiasm of these volunteers is the driving force behind the Tournament of Roses. The theme "Our Good Nature" incorporates these two special ingredients -- the natural artistry of the Rose Parade and the good nature of the people who make it happen each year."

Holman's first official duty was the leadership and organizational structure for the 2006-07 tournament year. Scott Jenkins was elected to his first term on the executive committee and will serve as president in 2014. In addition, the following officers were elected to serve with Jenkins: CL Keedy, III, vice president; Ronald H. Conzonire, treasurer and Gary J. DiSano, secretary. Libby Evans Wright is immediate past president. Re-elected to the executive committee are vice president: Jeff Throop, Rick Jackson and Sally Bixby. The five appointed at-large members are Gloria Lopez, Leslie Lyons, Ruth Martinez-Baenen, Eugene Sun and Kent White.

Holman also announced the election of four new members of the Association's board of directors: Rich Chinen, Joan Madsen, Rick Phegley and Maura Rountree-Brown.

Holman has been a volunteer member of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association since 1978 and was elected to the executive committee in 1999. He has since served on several committees.

Currently he is retired following a 38-year career in the financial services industry. He and his wife, Susan, have two sons and one granddaughter.
