Local youth winner of U.S. national award

The United States Achievement Academy has announced that Sara Kingston of La Cañada has been named a United States National Award winner in science.

Kingston, who attends Westridge School, was nominated for the national award by Dr. Garland, a chemistry teacher at the school. She will appear in the United States Achievement Academy official yearbook.

She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Scott Kingston of La Cañada. Her grandparents are Harold Kingston of Bradbury and Shirley Kingston of Delray Beach, Florida.

Kingston also was inducted into the Antonio Buero Vallejo Chapter of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica on April 19 for her outstanding achievement in Spanish. The chapter was established by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese to recognize outstanding achievement by high school students of Spanish and Portuguese.
