Bob Privitt - The Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art at Pepperdine University will present "Bob Privitt at Pepperdine: 40 Years of Sculpture and Drawings," featuring works by Pepperdine's artist-in-residence, May 5 to12. The exhibition, part of Pepperdine's 61st annual Bible Lectures, will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The public is invited to attend the opening reception on May 7 from 8:30 to 10 p.m. There is no admission charge. Bonsai! - The Santa Anita Bonsai Society, Shohin Society of Southern California and the Satsuki Azalea Society will jointly sponsor an exhibition of bonsai trees and suiseki viewing rocks from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 29, 30 and 31. The exhibition will be held in Ayres Hall at the Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden, at 301 N. Baldwin Ave. in Arcadia. In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Santa Anita Bonsai Society, the theme of the exhibit is Sho Kan, or upright tree, a majestic example of which is the club's logo. There will be a wide variety of trees in various styles on display as well as special displays of trees designed by the founding members. Recognized bonsai experts of Southern California will give demonstrations of various creative techniques of designing these trees at 1 p.m. each day. There is no charge for entrance to the exhibit. The Arboretum & Botanic Garden has an admittance charge of $6 for general admission, $4 for students with ID and seniors, $1.50 for children 5 to 12 years of age and no charge for children under 5 years of age.
